Christmas Cracker 2019
St James Church, Woburn Rd. Sunday 3pm, 1 December 2019.
Conductor: Mark Carter
The roses at
our favourite venue of St James Church set the scene
for a Christmas Concert. The audience could drop a book off at
the library, walk through the garden area and be greeted by a white
Christmas entrance.
In the first half
there was a Viennese feel with the Strauss waltzes
and the Nicholai's Overture to the Merry Wives of Windsor.
This very popular concert saw a packed audience who appreciated Mark's introductions to the pieces.

Pieces from
"Sound of Music" and more Strauss ended the first half. The audience
could then have tea and biscuits before returning to an "Indiana Jones"
medley.

The brass and
percussion sections all had essential parts in this lively
music

Then we moved into seasonal music with a set of orchestral Christmas
songs followed by carols ("Oh come all ye faithful" and "Hark the Herald
Angels Sing" where the audience could join in. Words
provided.)
Orchestra players were in Christmas colours, very appropriate for our Christmas Song selection.
both the orchestra and the audience had thoroughly enjoyed.

Their enthusiastic applause was treated to an encore of the "Thunder and Lightning Polka"
